Weipa’s Hibberd Library is designed to meet the unique needs of the Weipa community. As well as being a place where books are read, borrowed and enjoyed, the library fulfills a wider role in the community. 

Residents and visitors to Weipa are welcome to join the Library and can choose from a collection of titles, spanning popular fiction, classic literature, leisure, lifestyle and personal development.

Titles are available in a variety of formats, including books, large print books, magazines, DVDs, and audiobooks. Language, literature and Bookclub sets can be requested from the State Library. 

Hibberd Library is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government and the State Library of Queensland (SLQ). Available are electronic resources such as ebooks, downloadable audiobooks, information databases and music are all available for Rural Libraries Queensland (RLQ) members via the online catalogue.

Children 12 years and under must be supervised by a parent or carer at all times.

  • The Hibberd Library also provides public computers with internet access, as well as printing and scanning facilities. If you have emails to send or word processing to do, you can do it here.

    Our Toddler Rock 'n' Rhyme Time and Baby Wiggle 'n' Giggle sessions aim to foster a love of books as well as teaching important listening and social skills. 

    Toddler Rock 'n' Rhyme Time (up to school age children)

    9:30am Wednesdays

    Baby Wiggle 'n' Giggle  (0-1 year old)

    9:30am Thursdays

    Please note that these sessions are only run through the school terms.
